1. About Fraser Health
Fraser Health is one of the public regional health authorities of British Columbia (BC). It runs hospitals and health facilities in the Fraser Valley and Lower Mainland area, including cities like Burnaby and Surrey. Like other BC health authorities, it hires its own support staff, including Housekeeping Aides who keep patient rooms and clinical areas clean and safe.
We chose Fraser Health as the headline brand because its Housekeeping Aide jobs are posted publicly with clear duties and a clear wage. A Fraser Health Housekeeping Aide posting in Burnaby showed a rate of CAD $25.82 per hour, which matches the BC Health Employees’ Union (HEU) facilities rate for Cleaner/Housekeeping Aide (Grid 10) effective 1 April 2026. Postings also mention a benefits package with health coverage.
Be realistic: these are unionized public jobs. Postings are often casual or part-time first, and they are filled mostly by people who are already living and allowed to work in Canada. We found no official Fraser Health program that recruits housekeeping aides from the Philippines.
2. Hospital Cleaner Jobs in Canada 2026 – Overview and Current Status
In Canada, hospital cleaners fall under NOC 65310 – Light duty cleaners. Job Bank lists “Hospital Cleaner” and “Environmental Service Worker (ESW) – Hospital” as job titles inside this code. NOC 65310 is a TEER 5 occupation, which is the entry level. This matters a lot for immigration, as we explain later.
Here is the honest picture for October 2026:
- Demand exists, but locally. Job Bank rates the outlook for this occupation in BC as “Moderate” for 2025–2027. Hospitals do hire cleaners, but mostly from the local workforce.
- Canada tightened low-wage foreign hiring. Since 2024–2026 the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP) low-wage stream has caps, longer recruitment rules, and a 1-year maximum work period.
- Hospitals have some exemptions. Hospitals (NAICS 622) are exempt from the “refusal to process” rule in high-unemployment cities, and have a 20% cap instead of 10%. This leaves a small door open, but only if an employer chooses to use it.
- Most permanent residence programs do not accept cleaners. Express Entry, the Atlantic Immigration Program and most provincial health pathways exclude TEER 5 jobs.
3. Other Verified Hospital Employers in Canada
Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA)
The Saskatchewan Health Authority runs public health care across Saskatchewan. Its official careers site has an Environmental Services Worker career profile. It says ESWs clean patient rooms, wash linens and clean equipment and floors, need Grade 10, earn CAD $18.89–$20.24 per hour, and belong to CUPE, SEIU or SGEU depending on location. An SHA posting at Pasqua Hospital, Regina, was part-time and asked candidates to bring a criminal record check with a vulnerable sector search. SHA has an “International Applicants” section, but it is aimed at internationally trained health-care professionals, not cleaners.
Sodexo Canada
Sodexo Canada is a private facilities services company that provides housekeeping and food services to some hospitals and care homes. Its official careers page links to an hourly jobs board. During our check, it listed a healthcare housekeeper role in Airdrie, Alberta. Sodexo Canada pay depends on the site and contract.
Nova Scotia Health
Nova Scotia Health is the province’s public health authority, with its official job portal at jobs.nshealth.ca. Nova Scotia’s union grid lists an Environmental Service Worker at CAD $20.74–$21.56 per hour (effective 31 October 2025). Check the portal for current support services postings.
Not included: We could not verify the official careers pages of Compass Group Canada/Crothall, K-Bro Linen, Aramark Canada or the new Alberta health agencies during our research, so we left them out.
4. Types of Hospital Cleaning Jobs
Housekeeping Aide
The main title at Fraser Health and many BC hospitals. Cleans patient rooms, washrooms, clinics and common areas, and prepares rooms after a patient is discharged.
Environmental Services Worker (ESW)
The common title in Saskatchewan, Alberta, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. Same core job: cleaning and disinfecting to stop infections from spreading.
Laundry and Linen Aide
Sorts, washes, folds and delivers hospital linens. In some hospitals, housekeeping aides also do this work.
Dietary Aide / Food Service Worker
Prepares trays, serves meals and cleans kitchen areas. Union grids show similar pay to housekeeping (for example, BC Food Service Worker I at CAD $25.82 per hour, 1 April 2026).
Porter
Moves patients, equipment, supplies and waste around the hospital. Pay varies by hospital; we did not find a sourced national figure, so check each posting.
5. What a Hospital Housekeeping Aide Does
Based on a Fraser Health Housekeeping Aide job description, daily duties include:
- Cleaning and disinfecting patient rooms, clinical areas and high-touch surfaces like equipment, toilets, sinks and doors.
- Cleaning rooms after a patient goes home, including making the bed.
- Refilling paper towels, soap and hand rub dispensers.
- Moving furniture and equipment and setting up meeting rooms.
- Floor and carpet care: mopping, vacuuming and spot cleaning.
- Using washers and dryers and sorting and delivering linens.
- Reporting broken equipment or low supplies to the supervisor.
Shifts include days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. The work is physical: lots of standing, bending, pushing carts and lifting.
6. Hospital Cleaner Salary in Canada Per Month (CAD and ₱)
Here is the Canada Cleaner Salary in simple numbers. All figures are indicative, as of October 2026, before tax.
- Exchange rate used: 1 CAD ≈ ₱45.72 (CAD/PHP reference rate, 30 October 2026). Rates change daily.
- Monthly hours assumed: 37.5 hours per week ≈ 162.5 hours per month; annual = 1,950 hours. Part-time or casual workers earn less.
- ₱ amounts are rounded. Taxes, union dues and pension deductions are not subtracted.
| Role / Source | Hourly (CAD) | Monthly (CAD) | Monthly (₱) | Annual (CAD) |
|---|---|---|---|---|

| Light duty cleaner – Canada high (Job Bank) | $25.00 | $4,062 | ₱186K | $48,750 |

Sources: Government of Canada Job Bank wages for NOC 65310 (updated 19 November 2025, reference period 2023–2024); CUPE Saskatchewan “National Wage Comparisons 2026 – SK Health Care” (July 2026), which compiles union grids; Fraser Health and Saskatchewan Health Authority postings and career pages. The SHA rate is from an agreement effective April 2022 and may change when a new agreement is signed.
Reality check: Living costs in Canada are high, especially rent in Metro Vancouver. A ₱190K monthly salary sounds big in the Philippines, but after tax, rent, food and transport, savings are much smaller.

9. Eligibility Requirements
Age
Canadian employers cannot set an age limit. You must be of legal working age and physically fit for heavy cleaning work. Immigration programs may have their own rules.
Education
Fraser Health and the Saskatchewan Health Authority ask for Grade 10 or an equivalent mix of education, training and experience. For permanent residence programs like RCIP, you need at least a high school diploma confirmed by an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA).
Experience
Experience in hospital, clinic, hotel or commercial cleaning helps. For RCIP with a TEER 5 job offer, you need at least 1 year (1,560 hours) of paid experience in the same NOC code (65310) in the last 3 years.
English
You must communicate clearly with nurses, patients and supervisors. For RCIP, TEER 4 and 5 jobs need at least CLB 4 in all four skills on an IRCC-approved test.
Background Check
Hospitals usually require a criminal record check with a vulnerable sector search. The SHA asks for one dated within six months.
10. Documents Required
- Valid Philippine passport
- Canadian-style resume (1–2 pages, no photo)
- High school diploma and transcript (plus ECA if applying for permanent residence)
- Certificates of employment showing cleaning duties and hours
- Training certificates (TESDA Housekeeping NC II, infection control, WHMIS if available)
- English test results (IELTS General Training or CELPIP, if needed)
- NBI clearance and police certificates
- Medical exam by an IRCC panel physician (when asked)
- Signed job offer and, for TFWP, the employer’s positive LMIA
- DMW-verified employment contract before you leave
11. Work Permit and Immigration Routes – What’s Open in 2026
This is the most important section. We will be direct: routes for overseas hospital cleaners are very limited in 2026.
Route 1: TFWP Low-Wage LMIA Work Permit (limited)
A hospital cleaner job pays below the provincial “median wage” threshold (for example, $38.40/hour in BC and $34.62/hour in Saskatchewan for LMIAs received from 17 July 2026), so it falls under the low-wage stream. Key rules from ESDC:
- Employers can hire low-wage foreign workers for a maximum of 1 year.
- The employer must advertise for at least 8 consecutive weeks (including on Job Bank) and target youth and under-represented groups first.
- Normal cap: 10% of the workforce at a location. Hospitals (NAICS 622) get a 20% cap.
- ESDC refuses low-wage LMIAs in cities with 6%+ unemployment (for 9 Oct 2026 – 7 Jan 2027 this includes Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton, Regina, Saskatoon and Halifax), but hospitals are exempt.
- The employer pays the $1,000 LMIA fee and round-trip transport, and nobody may charge you recruitment fees.
Honest view: The rules allow it, but it only works if a real hospital or contractor decides to sponsor you. Unionized public health authorities usually fill these posts locally, and we found no public program by the employers above to recruit cleaners from the Philippines.
Route 2: Rural Community Immigration Pilot (RCIP) – a few communities
RCIP is a permanent residence pilot in 14 rural communities. You need a job offer from a designated employer in the community. For 2026, North Okanagan-Shuswap and Peace Liard (both in BC) list Light duty cleaners (65310) as a priority occupation; West Kootenay removed it. You need CLB 4, high school with ECA, 1,560 hours of experience in NOC 65310 in the last 3 years, and settlement funds. Community lists change often, so check the community’s official page.
Routes That Do NOT Work for Cleaners
- Express Entry: does not accept TEER 5 experience.
- Atlantic Immigration Program: job offers and experience must be TEER 0–4, so TEER 5 cleaners are out.
- Saskatchewan Health Talent Pathway: covers health occupations NOC 30010–33109 and 44101 only; housekeeping is not on the list.
- Alberta Dedicated Health Care Pathway: only nine professions (doctors, nurses, therapists and similar).
What IS Realistic
The stronger long-term route is to upskill into a health care aide, nurse aide or patient service associate role (NOC 33102, TEER 3). This occupation appears on several RCIP community lists and falls within Saskatchewan’s health pathway range. Cleaning experience still helps you get started in a hospital setting.
12. How to Apply Legally – Step by Step
- Prepare your profile: Canadian-style resume, certificates of employment, TESDA certificates and an English test.
- Search official sites only: careers.fraserhealth.ca, the SHA careers page, jobs.nshealth.ca, Sodexo Canada careers and Job Bank. Read whether the job is open to foreign applicants.
- Use DMW-licensed agencies: Check the agency and its Canada job order on the DMW website. The DMW Department Circular No. 01, Series of 2023 says employers cannot directly hire OFWs unless exempted.
- Get a real job offer: For TFWP, the employer gets a positive LMIA from ESDC. For RCIP, the employer must be designated and the community issues a recommendation.
- Apply to IRCC yourself or with an authorized representative: Only official IRCC channels. Pay only official IRCC fees.
- Contract verification: Your contract must be verified by the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) in Canada (the MWO Vancouver checklist covers BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Yukon and NWT).
- DMW processing and OEC: Complete DMW registration, the pre-departure orientation and get your Overseas Employment Certificate before flying.
13. Training, Certificates and Costs
- TESDA Housekeeping NC II: 460 nominal hours (about 58 days) at the TESDA Women’s Center. Fees vary by school; ask your TESDA provincial office about scholarships.
- Infection prevention and control: Hand hygiene, PPE and cleaning chemistry. Many Canadian hospitals train new hires on the job.
- WHMIS: Canada’s chemical safety training. Employers in Canada usually provide it.
- English test: IELTS General Training or CELPIP (check the current fee with the test centre).
- ECA: Needed for permanent residence; fees are set by the IRCC-designated organization.
Who pays what: Under the TFWP, the employer pays the $1,000 LMIA processing fee and round-trip airfare and cannot recover them from you. The DMW has said there should be no placement fee for jobs in Canada. Your own costs are mainly training, tests, passport, NBI clearance, medical exam and the official IRCC fees.
14. Jobs by Qualification
| Your qualification | Suitable roles | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Grade 10 / high school, no experience | Housekeeping Aide, Laundry Aide (local hire) | Hard to get hired from abroad without experience |
| High school + 1 year cleaning experience | ESW, Housekeeping Aide, Dietary Aide | Needed for RCIP (same NOC 65310) |
| TESDA Housekeeping NC II + hospital/hotel experience | Housekeeping Aide, ESW, Laundry & Linen | Strong resume for contractors like Sodexo Canada |
| Caregiver / health care aide training | Health Care Aide, Nurse Aide (NOC 33102) | More immigration options than cleaning |
15. Fraser Health vs Other Employers
| Employer | Type | Role title | Hourly (CAD) | Monthly (₱) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fraser Health (BC) | Public health authority | Housekeeping Aide | $25.82 | ₱192K |
| Saskatchewan Health Authority | Public health authority | Environmental Services Worker | $18.89–$20.24 | ₱140K–₱150K |
| Nova Scotia Health | Public health authority | Environmental Service Worker | $20.74–$21.56 | ₱154K–₱160K |
| Sodexo Canada | Private contractor | Housekeeper (healthcare) | Varies by site | Check posting |
16. Career Growth: From Cleaner to Health Care Aide
- Head ESW / Lead Hand: The SHA posts “Head Environmental Services Worker” roles.
- Supervisor: The SHA career profile mentions growth into supervisor and leadership roles.
- Health Care Aide / Nurse Aide (NOC 33102): TEER 3, better pay and more immigration options.
- LPN or nursing: Longer study path for those who want a regulated health career.
17. Tips to Get Hired
- Use the exact job words: “disinfection”, “terminal cleaning”, “isolation rooms”, “PPE”, “high-touch surfaces”.
- Show hours and dates clearly on certificates of employment.
- Get hospital or clinic housekeeping experience in the Philippines first.
- Take an English test early; CLB 4 is the floor, higher is better.
- Look at rural communities with RCIP priority lists, not only big cities.
- Be ready to accept casual or part-time work and night shifts.
18. How to Avoid Canada Cleaner Job Scams
“Cleaner jobs in Canada” is one of the most common scam baits on Facebook. IRCC says plainly: “No one can guarantee you a job or a visa to Canada.”
- Never pay for a job offer or an LMIA. The employer pays the LMIA fee by law.
- Be careful if the salary is far above the figures in this guide.
- Never pay in gift cards or cryptocurrency.
- Check every agency and job order on the DMW website.
- Check the job on the employer’s official site or on Job Bank.
- Avoid “consultancy” or “visa processing” firms promising jobs. The DMW has shut down firms illegally offering Canada jobs.
- Report fraud to the DMW, or to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.

20. Final Words
Fraser Health Hospital Cleaner Jobs and other Hospital Cleaner Jobs in Canada for Filipinos pay well by Philippine standards, about ₱140K–₱215K per month at public hospitals. But the legal doors for overseas cleaners are narrow in 2026. Build real experience, get TESDA training, take an English test, watch RCIP community lists, and think seriously about upskilling to health care aide. Use official sites only, and never pay for a job.
